Does the Corvette and Viper count as American made production super cars? Some say yes because they perform where other super car do. Others say no because they are not exotic enough. Well there's another one to add to the list. The new Honda NSX. It's performance looks to be in the same league as does the price. It's made in Ohio with the engine hand made, like other exotic super cars, in Ohio. I say good job Honda, now give us some fun again that we can afford.
I think that the new Vette should qualify. I think lately they have the looks (especially the high end models), sounds and performance to back up the claim. Haven't seen the new Viper yet. Fixin to check that out. That new NSX is awesome.
The new Viper is pretty BA. Looks like a mix of old Viper, New Vette with a touch of Ferrari in there.

"Supercar" is being seriously overused lately. Viper, Vette and NSX are setting the bar way too low for "supercar", IMO. I wouldn't consider cars like the Ferrari 488 a "supercar, either." The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is borderliine, maybe. The La Ferrari, yes. Porsche 918, Yes. McLaren P1, uh huh. Pagani Huayra, oh yeah. The only thing I would consider an American supercar is the Hennessey Venom. The Corvette is a good bargain in a sports car, the Viper is a brute of a car that just wants to kill you, and the NSX is a technology show on wheels, but it is way too slow to be called a supercar. 573 HP? Those cars above are now called Hypercars. The Viper, Vette and NSX are Supercars but if you want to make them Euro Super cars you just need to wear a scarf and dress like James May.
Personally if I could and did spend that much on a super car I wouldn't want to see another one around every corner. Hence me kind of dislike for Vettes and 911. There are cheaper versions that dilutes the exclusivity of the more expensive ones.
