For all the noise they make, they don't appear to be going very fast.

Not likely, but I'd sure understand the sadness.

Those look like a blast to drive. Probably even affordable by race car terms.

Not Fiat, but there was the German Munch Mammut (Mammoth) with a 1000cc four from the rear-engined NSU TTS shoehorned into a bike frame some time before the Honda 750-4 came along. One of the earliest uses of an alloy (rear) wheel on a bike as spoked ones couldn't take the strain! Note also the fully-enclosed chain drive to match BMWs for longevity.

Or the more worrying French BFG, a motorcycle powered by a 1300cc Citroen flat-four engine, targetted at and bought by French highway police units:

    Me want.
Looks like fun and affordable racing. Maybe there is an unloved 'busa motor somewhere in the back of my shop to start from. Though actually now I am thinking again about building a race Kart with my spare CB750 warranty replacement motor (serial runs east-west on crankcase not north-south). Since seeing a ride on mower with an 836 Honda SOHC4 engine I've wanted one.

You guys may want to have a look at Radical sport/track cars: Radical Sportscars / UK / Home

In case an itty-bitty motorcycle engine ain't enough for you, they do a V8 essentially made from two Hyabusa motors on a common crank. Up to 480hp in a 935kg (2060 lb) car is quite quick.

Justa my .02. While I can appreciate the work that went into building something like that, to me it is no longer a MINI. Once the A series lump is removed it's justa funny car of sorts.

Actually, it seems a shame to put a bike engine in anything bigger than it has to be, with Dax Rush (latter-day Lotus Seven) being a suitable choice. Though I think adding a turbo to a Hayabusa engine is perhaps a touch excessive....
