Thanks for posting. That was a good read.

When I was a kid I saw him and a lot of the other legends of motorsports race at VIR. Shelby won the first feature race at VIR in a Maserati 450S.The lconic Texan uttered a quote about the track that is remembered to this day, “one lap at VIR is like a hundred at Watkins Glen.â€

I knew most of those things. One of my freinds/mentors is an artist named Bill Neale, who was one of Shelby's closest friends. Bill designed the "Screaming Rabbit" Telingua Racing Team logo. I met Shelby several times through Bill, but he never remembered who I was. LOL

I had the opportunity to photograph him when I was at SEMA one year. I was told I had exactly four minutes with him, alone. No other photographers were there. I got the shot all set up. He arrived, did his poses, and left.

At one point right after his death there was talk of a movie being made about him with Tom Cruise as Carroll Shelby ( he is too short to play that part I think ).. Haven't heard anything about it since then..

I'm sure somebody will make movie about him, but Tom Cruise would be all kinds of wrong.

They would need to find supporting actors that were really really short to make it all look right to scale.... Then they would need to find really small Cobras.... I really don't see this happening in the long run...:beer

He'd be about as believable as Jack Reacher, a 6'5" 250 lb ex MP.
