I'm lazy. These work spectacularly, as long as you wash them well. http://www.amazon.com/Fusionbrands-Set-Silicone-Poach-Pods/dp/B000P6FD3I/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1431262350&sr=1-1&keywords=poach+pods When I want real poached eggs, I pay people to do that.
I have the same. I was surprised, though, that the eggs don't always come out cleanly. A little olive oil on the silicone solves that minor problem. Alton Brown is a smart cookie but even vinegar and swirling the water doesn't work well enough for me. I lose more egg than I like and the water ends up milky with it by the time I've done just a couple eggs. Maybe I just need to practice more but since those poach pods work so well that's not gonna happen.
I have a wife for that stuff and she is excellent in the kitchen. We have a deal, I stay out of the kitchen and she stays out of the garage. FYI after she is done all her Cooking or Baking I clean everything up. *note she does NOT clean my garage.
My wife and I have a deal too, I cook, she cleans. Though sometimes she cleans things before I'm done using them.
 I do the same thing to her in the kitchen. She says get out I am not done yet. So back to watching golf I go.
Yep, I spray mine with a little canola oil before I break the egg into it. Slides out perfectly every time.
