First of all i want to thank the person responsible for putting together this sensible forum. Its my first time to work on a mini, r55 n14 b16, and its a complete engine rebuild. But at 50k cracked pistons is really surprising specially for an engine built by BMW. I was expecting an e36 z,318 engine and boy was i wrong. Its as if all the technical things i learned in 2005 are not applicable to this engine. Everything is new but function and definnition is still the same and only the technology changed. The vanos is more simple, just as i wS beggining to learn how to inbstall vanos system withoutn the alignment tool and they come out with a new evolved design, but thanks to this forum i skipped wasting time ,so there you go im confessing, im a lurker. Im really glad to have discovered this forum. Thank you.
