I have a 10' clubman s w/ jcw tuning kit. It has 43k on it and the last few months have been nothing short of a nightmare. I bought the car with 17k from a mini dealer who had mentioned it was previously owned by a mini service tech so I had my suspicions that he beat it up but everything seemed tight so I bought it. It has some issue with engine rattling/knocking sound around 30k miles so I brought it in to the dealer I bought it from. They said there wasn't anything wrong and they didn't hear anything. They must have used there magic to make the noise stop. I let it go. At about 42k I brought it back in for service same dealership. They keep the car for a week and don't answer my phone calls. I had to drive up there and ask where my car was just to get my car back, no apology, nothing. So A day later my car gets back to making the same sound it did back at 30k only this time its worse and its driving like ****. So back to dealership we go. I told them to check timing chain etc. They call to tell me nothing is wrong but my car was short 2 QUARTS of oil. Yep they basically told me that the from the time my car was serviced to the time I brought it back in it was short 2 quarts of oil and that is was my fault and I should have checked it. I drove the car home and back to the dealership 20 minutes roundtrip. SO in that trip I lost 2 QTS?

All I want to know is if I should waste anymore time with this car or am I looking at dumping a ton of money into it in the near future.

Sorry about your troubles, what location of the country are you in?
Maybe another Dealership or MINI specialist can better help you out.

:cornut: Welcome to MA. What year of R55? N14 or N18 engine. Get the dealer to run your key fob and print off all of the previous maint. , service, and fixes. We can help a lot more with the above info. Good Luck!

The more times you do any thing you increase the odds of getting burned. I've bought many cars since 1952 and one in particular turned out to be a nightmare. I had to suck it up, sell the car, take the loss and get on with it. (It stops hurting after a while.)

I meant to say bought it with 27k, but that doesn't matter. Its a 2010 R55, i am not sure which engine it is, however if you can show me a link of where it would be i could get you that info.. the only maintenance report other than scheduled services are my 3 or 4 times having brought it in. They were all for the same issue which was engine started sounding like a diesel engine, it was a rattling, valve tapping kinda sound, resulting in poor performance of the car. Today I had it serviced, at a different dealership, which would be the 5th time, and they found the valve cover was leaking oil all over the engine. They found this even after the mishap at the previous dealership. So I remain in a state of complete confusion as to what or who or how is wrong with the car. All i know is one dealership found a way to make two qts of oil disappear from my engine in under 50 miles. After that diagnosis was made the same dealership said they fixed the problem. I experienced the same noise and brought it to a dealer today. They found the valve cover leaking oil all over the entire engine. They installed a new valve cover gasket. SO I have proof that the first dealership made the mistake.

Ive had it up for sale on CL for a while and haven't had any hits so that seems to be out of the question. Regardless I bought the car to keep it. I wanted to turn it into a rally car. I am just wondering if its worth keeping or is the engine gonna blow up on me.
