Just recently purchased a used 2005 MIni Convertible and the cables have broke and cannot open the top. I have only owned since May 26 2014. This is very discouraging seeing that the repairs are going to cost $800.00 - $1600.00! Has anybody run in to this issue with any of the convertibles?

(dang it...no pictures again...guess he's got other stuff on his mind) Seek out an independent shop to get that taken care of and I'll bet it can be done for less.
    You will love topless motoring!
Some hints on cabrio care: Keep the canvas clean with either 303 or Ragg Topp. Get on ebay and any other sources you can find to acquire a R52 wind deflector. You won't believe the difference it will make. Also, visit Way Motor Works and order a 'LightInSight'.
There's only four reasons to have the top up:
    1. It's raining really hard and you can't drive over 50 MPH.
    2. It's snowing really hard.
    3. Some idiots are throwing empty beer cans in the back seat.
    4. If it's and S, your co-pilot is whining louder than the SC because the temperature is too hot or too cold.
