My aching head! The drivers side sun visor on my R53 06 Cooper S is a pain in the head. Constantly banging into my head. I want to remove but don't want unsightly holes or worse screws sticking out. Any ideas on something to put in its place?

TeeHee! It's a Mini. The seat is all the way back.

Nice! I think I have misled you. I'm talking about the visor on the side. The hinge cover is like a piece of cast iron. Passenger side has a handle. Drivers side has a fold down visor. Not really needed. My head is soft.

Just take it off and fill the small holes with plugs from Home Depot.

Or you will need to duck or get a smaller head. :p

Heh. That side visor is ridiculous. My car doesn't even have a roof 80% of the time. When it does, it's raining and then the car has no rain gutters.

    Lateral sun visor? #11

    Simple solution.....

Remove it from your side and switch places with the hand grab on the passenger side..... Mounting holes are identical.... The Brits have the same problem... Just reverse....

Then your passenger will have the problem..... TeeHee.....:D

Think I'd rather hit my head on a padded visor rather than a hand hold. Truth be told rather not hit anything with my noggin. :D

I am going with learn to duck more after all the car is called a MINI for a reason.

If you don't want to hit your head buy a Chevy Suburban.

By the way, does anyone know if earlier R53's, say a 2003, has the mounting holes for the lateral sun visor?

I like my side visor and use it quite a bit. I even made an extension to fill in the back bit

Considering how sunlight is always getting in my eyes, this interests me. Didn't see a photo in your garage, got any?

I had my windows tinted + the sunglasses, no problems. I have one of those, just wondering if I could fit it without a hassle.

Wish wraparounds were available with my Rx, as I used to wear Gargoyles, Bolle's, etc. back when contacts would work for me. At least I found a place than can put my Rx in Serengeti Drivers. That's the most wrap I've been able to find for my Rx.

Of course, I wear them day and night, because the sun never sets on the cool! :D

I have few sets of very nice sunglasses :rolleyes5: and I like my Serengeti's the best for driving.

I like them so much I wish I did not buy my Maui Jim's which are great ultra light titanium polarized glasses.

Anyone interested in them? Make me an offer as they are only sitting on my shelf.

Thanks folks. Cruising in my MCS I always have my seat back and shades on. I like it high. I'm going to go with the removal option. I thought of swapping out the "lateral visor" with the handle but I think that will hurt more. I can always stick my head out the sunroof as I pass the Suburbans.*

PS. Could use some winter tire suggestions. And I'm still looking for the heated steering wheel! ;-))
