Has anybody had problem with their timing chain or timing chain tensioner ? For their 2007 mini Cooper base model R56 engine N12 mine has 75000 miles roughly. I read about a Class action lawsuit against BMW saying the tensioner are defective and that's why their they have a Class action lawsuit on them cause they didn't recall it
They do show a couple of part number changes for tensioner #4, which indicates a design modification.... You should probably get with the MINI dealer and they should be able to tell you if you have the latest.... They aren't too expensive and are relatively easy to install yourself, if you are inclined.... RealOEM.com  BMW R56 Cooper Timing and valve train-timing chain
Since there is a MINI with an N12 in our garage I've been keeping an eye out for tensioner problems. So far I have read of a couple, but reading between the lines I wonder if they were lack of oil related or caused by a jammed vacuum pump. Keep clean fresh oil in your engine & I think you'll be fine. At 58,000 miles our clubman has been more reliable than my R53. Yep that's true Dave. Hope that trend continues. :fingerscrossed:
