Happy Holidays to one and all! I was searching the internet for information on whether it would be worth it to purchase the extremely costly extended warranty offered through the dealer for my 2011 Mini CM S All4. The mfg's warranty expires next month. The information I found on your site was really helpful and I have made the decision to not to purchase the extended warranty (which was in the vicinity of >$4000 for another 3 years). Although it was the first year for the CM, it has been quite reliable. All problems to date have been more for less self-inflicted (once the wrong gas was used & another time I overfilled the oil), not to mention that I'm about to install my 3rd windshield (I live in western Canada and there is a lot of gravel on the roads in winter). There is mechanic not far from my house that specializes in European imports and I'm going to use him for maintenance/repairs. Your site is a valuable resource for Mini owners. Keep up the good work!
+1 With your record of reliability, you'll likely spend far less on repairs than you would have feathering the pockets of the warranty provider.
I'm not a fan of extended warranties. That being said the Prince of an engine used in your car has proven that an extended warranty may be a good idea. Tough choice to make. Welcome to M/A
I also am not a big fan of extended warranties. I just hate betting against myself hoping that whatever I have purchased will turn to carp so I don't feel bad about spending even more to keep it working like it should have all along. Hope everything works out well for you and Welcome yo M/A !!
