    Welcome to Motoring Alliance.

What year is your car? I believe P2187 means your car is running a lean fuel mixture at idle. Possible issue, your fuel pump is starting to go. You might also consider changing the fuel filter.

The high pressure fuel pump is not good for "life of the car". In fact, most cars I have owned that have electric fuel pumps in the tank last just under 10 years.

In my case, the fuel pump on my MINI died without warning. At least you got a code.

You should have it checked out. Fuel pumps are not all that expensive. But the couple of hours of labor might be.
