A friend of mine pointed me over here, so I just joined up. I'm a long time MiNi owner. Back when I was in high school, my first car was a classic Mini, and I've owned a bunch of them over the years. In 2002 I couldn't wait to buy one of the first new MINI Cooper S models made. I still have that car, and I've also got a classic Austin Mini sitting in my garage next to it. I was fortunate enough to meet with John Cooper several times back when he was running a car dealership/Mini tuning shop in the 90s. And later on I visited the factory in Oxford just as they were changing over from the R50/R53 to the R56. So I'm definitely a fan of the marque.
What was too much? The bow in the back? I knew it. I knew I should have stuck with a buckle, but the bow just sets it off!
I have a pic of BruceK with his first Mini......I don't think he'll mind if I post it.... Bruce, I just noticed, your old car seems to have a Webasto sunroof? Those were rare back then!
Hey, that's me! Back when dirt was new. No sunroof on that Mini, just red & blue painted stripes that started on the fenders behind each headlight and then did a loop on the roof.
