I'm new here and just starting to poke around. Loving my new Roadster (the wait for it to be built and shipped was the longest couple of months ever!) I am having on issue, when I use the white USB cord that comes with my iPod to try and play Music through my H&K (mini connected and Nav package) it allows me to select the music and even shows as playing but no sound comes out. I'm I doing something wrong?
Welcome, Thanks for joining Motoring Alliance. Quiet week around here, lots of us are off in the mountains running round like the fools that we are.
Welcome Aboard! I started using the MINI supplied cord and it was fine. When I tried using the Apple cord one time, I got an error message, so now I only use only the MINI cord and haven't had any problems with that one.
I did not get a cord with my MINI do you know where I could go to buy one? And is it just like the. apple on only made by MINI?
If it were me, I'd just check with a MINI dealer to make sure you get a cord that is compatible with your stereo unit. There is a difference in the cords, mine is a 2 prong thing as at the MINI end it has both USB and Aux attachments. (Only 1 at the IPod end.) Also, I'm assuming there are "pin" differences that allows the proprietary MINI unit to perform it's functions. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are even differences in the MINI cords depending on which stereo unit is in the car. I'm no electronics expert. I just know that when I tried the Apple cord both by itself and in conjunction with an Aux cord (to duplicate the MINI attachment) that no-workie, but the MINI cord works just fine all the time. Good Luck!
Thanks for the welcomes and $94 latter (including sales tax and shipping, shipping was pricey but I did not want to drive a hour and a half just to pick up the cord) I was able to get a cord from MINI that was compatible with my stereo (it was a two prong type USB and Audio Jack at the MINI end and stander-ed connector at the Ipod end) Thanks for all the advice I would have never know to even look for it. I'm very glad to have that working as most of the radio stations around my neck of the woods have a slightly limited play list and don't play all the songs that I like.
