    2010 Mini stalls at idle

    I have a 2010 Mini 2 door with 145,000 miles.

Recently, the car will run fine, then suddenly it starts to idle rough (400-600 rpm) and eventually stalls at a stop light. Other times it runs fine or idles rough and then recovers and idles at about 1000 rpm. This morning I got an engine light with a stall but them it went out. I can restart the engine and it runs fine. When I am diving down the road it seems to have the same power as in the past, and runs smoothly and I'm still getting the same gas mileage as well.

I have always run premium fuel in this car. I am thinking this is a fuel purge valve issue but I'm not sure based on some research.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the cause/problem?

Have you checked the codes? If so what are they?

    Welcome to MA!

You may want to start your own thread under the Gen 2 section. Your screen shots are too small for me to read. Do you know if you have a Cooper S or just a Cooper. Also may be a dumb question but did you check the oil?

The codes say I have a cylinder 3 and 4 misfire. But then the engine runs fine for a while.

This would point toward injectors or plugs, or plug wires I think.

The "plug wires" are new to me as they are individual coils for each spark plug. I'm thinking I should start there.

I would start a little cheeper. If you don't know how old the plugs are I would change them first.

Is this a Cooper S(turbo) or just a Cooper?

Replacing the plugs would be a good first step. Have you ever had the intake valves cleaned? That would be my guess.

Gen 2, I forgot about carbon build up. Good point.
