Hi, This is my first post. My mini is at the shop for 30K service. They performed all required items, and is recommending that I also have them do a "fuel injection service" which costs an additional $110. Is this just one of those optional add ons that helps them make a buck, or is this something I actually should do at 30K, and if so, then why isn't it on the list of items required at 30K? Thanks for any input!
Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance, the FUN and Friendly MINI Community. It's an optional add on designed to make the dealer a hefty profit. So long as you use premium gas from a top tier supplier you'll be fine. As added insurance you could run a bottle of Techron through the gas tank now and again. Most any auto parts store sells it. Even the dealer has it, but labeled MINI or BMW fuel treatment, with a commensurate overly high price since it has the BMW or MINI logo on the bottle.
Say no thank you and next time you fill-'er-up add a can of BG-44K. http://www.bgfindashop.com/locator/index.php

Welcome to M/A! Save your money, use only premium gas [93 octane] and go with an occasional bottle of Techron. :cornut:
+1 Good stuff!! Nothing they are going to do for $110 is going to help you more than this... It's just a dealer "reccomended" service cause it makes them $$. When I lived out in Colorado ... There was a Toyota dealer that charged $110 to add $30 bottle of the above chemical at each service....was a Toyota dealer... I the future, please include the version of mini and year of the car you have!! Enjoy your car, and welcome!!.
Pour a bottle of Chevron Techron in the tank at each oil change. It's a very good fuel system cleaner.
