Hey folks... Relative Newb to the mini world here. Picked up an 03 5-speed mini earlier this year (no, it's not an S.... maybe next one), got a good deal on it. Been pretty happy with it so far, no major issues as of yet. It's got about 150k on it, so I knew there would be items cropping up... I did my homework, and saw a lot of folks warning against it, but like I said, got a deal, and couldn't pass it up. I know my way around a toolbox enough to mange most things, even if I happen to draw blood in the process. Only things I have had to do to it so far, had to swap the oil filter housing out (someone threw out the plastic cage) to the newer format, and snow tires... It was a bit squirrely in the snow, which we sometimes see in Ohio. Oh... and, recently got an airbag light (see other post for that one) Nothing major beyond that, just general maintenance. So far, happy with the little bugger...
Welcome to M/A! How about some pics ? Where in Ohio are you? Check out the Mid-Ohio Motoring here on M/A...we gather for breakfast every 3rd Saturday of the month.
Wow! Fast responses! Will get pics up soon, I'm in the Akron area... Looks like most of the folks are from the central Ohio / Columbus areas, so even though sounds like breakfast would be a good place to meet more Cooper folks, might be a bit of a drive. That said, I DO get down that way on occasion, so you never know.
Welcome to MA! kick the front of the front tire, if it moves back you need new control arm bushings. Unless they have been changed I am sure they are bad. Use Powerflex bushings.
Welcome to MA!!! There are several helpful members here. Sometimes they can get a bit cantankerous, but we are all current on our shots.
Welcome! That squirrelly bit in the snow can be helped by turning OFF the DSC if you have that option.
