    I am a first time Mini Cooper owner. Although I am mechanically inclined I know next to nothing about the 2012 Cooper S I have recently purchased. I've only got about 3,000 miles on the car since purchased and it recently started throwing codes P15DF and P0087 both of which would seem to indicate, according to a forum member from 4 years ago that I need a new High Pressure Fuel Pump :mad:

    This pump appears to be quite expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    P15DF: Fuel pressure 3.5 BAR lower than specified pressure.
    Potential problem source(s):
    - Fuel tank empty
    - Defective rail pressure sensor
    - Defect in low-pressure system
    - High-pressure pump defective

    P0087: Fuel rail system too low.

    The High Pressure Fuel Pumps used to be about $350, but MINI has jacked the price upwards of $1000.
    They are warranted past the car's warranty, but I don't remember which years are involved.

    Maybe it's the sensor.

    JesseBee - welcome to MA.

    DneprDave - do you know if this fuel pump Mini specific or is there a cross reference part for a different car? Has anyone tried to figure that out?

    It looks like it is a MINI specific part. There are three different part numbers, depending on the year of manufacture.

    Ok - I'll look up the part numbers and see if they potentially cross reference to some other vehicles. I can't imagine a fuel pump cost this much.. wow.
