    I`m a long long time VW Guy, and still have several air cooled`s in my collection. But when my TDI daily driver was bought back by VW for much more than it was worth, I decided to spread my wings a little, while still staying with a German car. I now have a 2010 Cooper S Clubman, which I must say is more fun to drive than any VW I`ve owned, including my Corrado, which languishes in need of a head gasket.

    The Mini has been relatively trouble free for my first 5,000 miles, but I washed one of the key fobs the other day, and now of course it still works manually, it no longer works the comfort access system, nor do the remote buttons work. I`ve replaced the battery in the fob, to no avail. Has anyone brought one of these back from being washed?

    Thanks;
    Dave

    Hi Dave....WELCOME to M/A! :Thumbsup: I can't help you with your key fob issue, as my MINIs are all Generation 1s, and because I have never had any issues with my key fobs. However, fear not, there are a lot of Gen 2 owners here who can and will offer some solutions. Good luck! :fingerscrossed:

    Hi there, and welcome to the alliance.

    Not personally, but the internet indicates the importance of fully drying before trying...else frying and :cryin:..... so you may be looking at getting a replacement. I wish you luck.

    When my cell phone went through the wash, the first thing I did was remove the battery, then I rinsed it out with 95% isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. It survived.

    If you didn't take your key apart and dry it, before using it, I'm afraid it's dead.

    be glad it still starts the car! replacing them isn't fun.

    I'm still a VW owner as well - trying to find a classic beetle get around town in eventually.

    Welcome Aboard! I had air cooled and water cooled VWs. I like my MINI much better.
