I have a set of NM springs in my 2010 JCW S and I was wondering if the 3/4" drop is too much to be able to put some Koni Shacks in for better handling on the autocross races? And if they can be switched out for the stock shocks, should front and back be done? Thanks' Pete
Hope you don't mind, I adjusted the title to more accurately reflect the question. At least I think it does. When switching to shock such as a Koni from OE all 4 should be done at the same time. A mix of both a performance shock and OEM will make for some wonky handling.
The Koni Yellows are a great combo to put the the NM springs, and if you want more performance you can adjust them stiffer.
what to adjust Koni yellows to I'm excited to add the Koni Yellows to the car. I have a 19mm rear sway bar set at the medium set of holes. If I move to the stiffer set of holes what setting should I start the shocks? And is an alignment necessary after the shocks go in? Thanks
For daily driving I personally set the shocks to the softest setting. IMO you should always align the car after changing anything suspension related.
You don't ride the bump stops, corners flatter but still turns great due to the higher rate in the rear, doesnt dive on heavy braking and recovers from an event much quicker...etc... I find them better in everyway.
Thanks for that...having just run Thunderhill III I may have to look at these when I get new shocks. I must say, however, my coach commented on how flat my MINI handled with the TSW's and 19mm sway bar. Better is always good. Thanks again....
Swift only makes one lowering spring for the Mini and its the Spec R. Sure cuts down on the decision making process! Mine will get installed this SPRING!!!!
