I'm getting ready to replace pads and rotors. Planning to go with the WMW kit. It's also time to flush brake fluid. So I'm thinking now would be the time to replace the brake lines? I have 100k miles, 2007 MCS.
I would. I replaced my front lines when I did my R56 upgrade. But the feel was never quite right. I had flushed the fluid and and bled the lines a number of times. This last spring I changed the rear lines. While I was bleeding them I noticed that the little dark streak in the fluid I'd seen before was gone. When I checked the old lines I noticed that the rubber had started to get soft, they were deteriorating. Now I have the feel I want and much better and predictable braking. By the way I got Stop Tech braided lines from Rock Auto. Good price and good lines. The car '05 R53 with 42k mi
Thanks guys, I'll plan on replacing them. Does braided matter much, or is it about the same price for braided vs regular? I'll take a look at the Stop Tech on rock auto, thanks.
I think changing brake lines is a good idea at the mileage you have. With the other brake work you are doing this is a good time. The SS lines I put on my MINI came from Chad at Detroit Tuned, he's a forum sponsor. IMHO Rock Auto is hit or miss on the quality of the parts they sell & they aren't a forum sponsor.
Cool thanks I'll check on the Detroit Tuned and also the WMW direct fit lines. I'm going to clean and paint the calipers when I'm messing with this. Anything else I should consider whiIe I have things apart?
The braided lines cost more. But I think they are worth the difference. If your buying a name brand, like Stop Tech, it doesn't matter where you get them the quality will be the same. But supporting a sponsor is a good idea. I think you have it covered with what you're planning.
It does matter. Buy from Rock Auto and have an issue, good luck. Buy from an M/A sponsor and they will answer the phone and help you as best they can. Keep in mind... The Bitterness of Poor Quality remains Long after the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten
We have a stainless brake line kit we have been selling for years with great reviews, and they hold up unlike some of the lesser quality lines. Detroit Tuned Stainless Brake Lines Feel free to give us a call with any questions, as Nate said we would be glad to help you out!
How would some one order the 4 line kit with R56 front and R53 rear? For caliper upgrades. Or should they just order the front and rear separately?
You can place them n your cart separately or give us a call and we'll make sure the right lines go out. 586-792-6464
