Motoring Alliance exists as an online forum for MINI enthusiasts to present and discuss their ideas and opinions. The site's ownership and administration will not support, nor decide which ideas and opinions are right, or wrong. They will enforce the sites rules and guidelines to assure that the conversation remains civil and appropriate for the majority of the membership.
1. General Policy:
Don't be a Jerk!
1.1 We are here to help:
Please don't be shy about asking for help or offering help... this is one significant reason we are here. It will be our goal to provide one of the most informative, accurate and useful MINI forums on the net.
2. Interacting with others:
Dissent is good. A well-reasoned argument is always encouraged on Motoring Alliance. Sniping, being overly snarky, personal attacks and obvious trolling are not, and will be dealt with. A lot of meaning is lost in this textual medium. Body language, inflection and tone are effectively lost so being a wise acre might raise the ire of another. Think before you post. Motoring Alliance reserves the right to delete, move, modify, and/or otherwise moderate your posts as we see fit, without notification to you, the author.
3. When you post:
You retain all credit and copyrights. You grant permission and an irrevocable license to Motoring Alliance to display your works or a portion of your works on the Internet, in marketing materials and other mediums such as print, DVD, podcast and other ways, including those not yet invented. Full credit to all sources used will be given and we will usually contact you first for permission. Cross posting of your own material is not prohibited unless an agreement of exclusivity has been negotiated with Motoring Alliance. Do not post others material without their permission, unless of course you are quoting a previous post. Do not post email addresses in the forum for public view, especially if it is not your own. Spambots will pick these up too easily.
4. Post Content:
Motoring Alliance is PG-13. Use good judgment and keep all materials safe for work. For example, do not post any of George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words You Can't Say On Television." Changing a letter around or adding a character to use words like those is childish. You can do better than that.
5. Reporting Posts
As much as we would like to it is impossible for us to read every single post. We do review every reported post and endeavor to report our findings. Please use the REPORT Post icon to inform us of any posts you think are violating the forum rules
6. Private Messages and Site Email:
Harassment via Private Message or through sending an email through Motoring Alliance is prohibited. Interpretation of Harassment is up to the Motoring Alliance Staff, with all decisions final. .
7. Who's responsible:
Here's the deal, we cannot, do not want to and will not try to control everything. Visit posted links at your own risk; we did not write the policies for sites, sponsors, advertisers and any other linked location. Read their policies to keep informed of your rights.
8. The Man:
It is rather simple; we will grudgingly hand over records if presented with a subpoena. Do not post incriminating stuff about yourself such as overt speed, street racing or your Bit Torrent activities. Do not slam others without irrefutable facts. Follow those simple guidelines and you will not cause us to be subpoenaed.
PG-13 rated please. See the Site Help located in the Main Menu for exact specs. As to links in signatures, as long as the link is to a non-commercial entity all is good. If the link is to a commercial entity then it is only OK if said entity is also a Site Sponsor. Since Site Sponsors come and go it is your responsibility to keep your signature links updated. If a Motoring Alliance staff member asks you to make a link inactive please do so. We can always shut off your signature link privileges anyway, so it is not worth fighting.
10. Commercial Posts:
Posts or Threads to advertise your products or services are prohibited unless an agreement is in place with Motoring Alliance. Having others do so in your stead is also prohibited. Motoring Alliance will delete posts and potentially banning users with notice when the post is a commercial post made by a non community sponsor. If you happen to notice these types of posts please report them to us.
