SES light came on yesterday so first thing I did was call MINI and make an appointment for Thursday. Today I went to Autozone and had them read the code and it came up as P0036, which is the HO2S Heater control circuit. My R53 is not new but new to me and at 61k. Is this repair covered under that 10yr/100k O2 sensor warranty? I have no idea. Saw it mentioned a couple of places but is news to me.

A few years back MINI did extend the warranty on the 04-06 O2 sensor to 10 Years / 100K miles. Being you have an 05 in theory if the O2 sensor is the faulty part here then you would be covered. There is a range of VINs that are covered. I might suggest a call to MINI US, 866-ASK-MINI

You may have to gently remind your Service Adviser about the extension.

MINI extended the O2 sensor warranty on all R53 MINI's to 100,000 miles.

Nathan, I called Mini, they said if that's what it turns out to be it will be covered. My service advisor said the code i had meant nothing to him until the techs there used their system.

it's usually what comes first, 10 years, or 100k. I would say no matter what, that warranty has expired. It is almost 2018
