If I black it out I want to do the strip under the windows too, next is window tint!!

They are a lot of car for the money but you can get them up into the low $30's pretty quick if you add all the tech packages on a SGT... Still a deal for all that they are!!

Love the seats in it too, almost identical to a buddy of mines Pan Amera !

Window tint on a white car, pretty much a must do!:)

Sure you can option the 3 up into the 30's, but even then it LOOKS like a 35-40k hot hatch--it looks very modern without looking like they tried too hard; it's a delicate balance, and they've been doing it model after model lately.

Mazda is moving forward in relative large steps with regards to styling lately, without doing something stupid that ruins it; seems most (not all, but most) other carmakers are taking baby steps. I always love it when a relatively small company shows the big guys how it's done!

But the other car companies will take a short cut and start hiring Mazda designers, it's how it always works...

The 3 isn't on almost everyone's top ten list for nothing, heck we were on the way to the BMW place to get another one, but we stopped and drove the 3. End of story!!

The belt line is easier than the grille trim. No grille removal needed.

Funny you mentioned it being a lotta car for the money. I said that to a buddy who booked a Fit. Upon seeing mine, he ditched the reservation & ordered an M3 hatch instantly. The WedsSport wheels arrived 1st, though. :)

First thing we did was broom the Dunlops that came on it and put a larger size Michelin Sport 3 A/S tires on it!

Also looking at some of the factory aero bits, the front splitter and side skirts to be exact.

Nice, looks like a nice cast aluminium rocker box. Hope it's not a faux prastic one.

    I see a dipstick!

It definitely keeps in line with Mazda's infamous "looks-like-I'm-smiling-in-your-rearview-mirror-but-I-won't-be-there-long" mugshot their cars always seem to have. I've noticed that many of the Japanese sport compacts are going to the high tower arches over the front wheels, as seen here, in my FR-S, on the 370z, etc etc etc. This is a pretty nice touch, as those arches tell me exactly where my front wheel is, which allows me to place it right where I want it to go in a turn. Mazda did a revamp, and they got it right. If it runs as good as it looks, many of the brands foreign or domestic better put on their big boy pants and step up or Mazda is going to run away with their customers.

My only concern is the engine--the specs came out, and they're lower than I would have expected. Granted, they've dropped some weight, and have stayed true to the handling over power philosophy, I just wonder how much more the base engine can take with aftermarket modification before you need to start thinking about rods/pistons etc.

Love the design though, and that chassis is going to be able to handle a ton of HP. Someone is going to do it too--just wonder how, and how expensive.

If I was going to buy one (in Silver) I would hold off for a supercharged or turbo one that will be coming down the road.

I really hope they go through with that. There was supposed to be an STi/GT version of my car, turbo'd with all wheel drive. Would have been a ROCKET. But that doesn't look to be happening. And I don't think it should happen...not until they get off their high horse and fix the existing problems for the current owners. But I've heard Mazda has a better customer service track record anyway. I'm just glad the design renderings and the actual product are very similar.

Would love to see a Mazdaspeed higher HP version but I'm not going to hold my breath as there is a new RX7-8 coming....

That said with a new Mazdaspeed 3 in the works, everything will be sorted with compressing the skyactive high compression motors...

The new MX5 is nice & I think an improvement over the old model. That being said there are a couple of things that I don't like. One is that gameboy display sticking up out of the dash & two is the black windshield frame. Easy to fix the color of the frame, but that gameboy is going to have to stay.

As far as power goes, for this old fart it will probably be plenty, I'm a momentum driver & while power is nice handling trumps all in my twisted world. I bet the balance of the new MX5 will be great out of the box.

The aftermarket will step in & add turbo kits along with superchargers. The Miata has healthy aftermarket support, given time all one could want will be there for the new MX5.
