I decided to paint the screws.

Now I can't leave a bit of thread showing so I had to paint it as well. I am so glad I build models to have all the needed items for the task.

The stainless screw has 2 small o-rings that will act as a vibration dampener an also help position it centered in the hole and over the button on the Ultra Gauge.

The Ultra Gauge manual page shows the control buttons and why I needed the extra mod to make it work easily reaching a finger around the back without having to move the gauge itself.

This really seems more appropriate? The hatch is getting the S dropped and replaced with a T.

I know for some members it may not go over very well but think of it as another MINI owners personal touch. :biggrin5:

The wife said "go get the dent and scratches fixed"! So the MINI is off to the body shop and will be back in a week. I am already feeling the loss of driving it everyday.:cryin:

We bought the MINI with these small body problems.

I was hoping to get a complete paint job but the $....:eek6: maybe next summer. I have other things more immediate safety improving items needing funds allocated for. I talked with the wife about getting drilled and slotted rotors, new tires and wheels as an example. :ihih:

I figure I should get something new every month for the MINI?

Some of you most likely noticed in the last posted pictures above the ambient temperature indication (UG found P0073 engine code). ..well working on that.:confused5:

The MINI went into the body shop to get the dent in the rear near the fuel cap and a small door ding repaired. Both of these were from previous owner. Somehow the whole MINI was stripped and repainted.

After being gone for a month we just picked it up yesterday. Casualties of re-paint include so far, fog lights and some turn signal lights don't work, the ambient temperature sensor seems bad, and the biggest thing is NO AC. :cryin:

We had the grill replaced with a black one and did some carbon wrapping on the top, pillars, headlight rings and grill frame. Also re-did all the window tinting including tinting the sun and moon roof. To finish it off we also added new hood stripes a little more fitting with the MINI then the weird angled black stripes that came with the MINI when we got it. The letters on the rear hatch were not reinstalled as a personal thought it looks cleaner.

So here it is so far. :biggrin5:

After reading up on what the ambient temperature sensors does I found that the plug was placed in the connector incorrectly. Once that was corrected the AC started to work again. . So everything is back to A1 running condition. :biggrin5:

I got out the simple green and other cleaning brushes and rags and spent the rest of the day making the engine compartment look as good as the outside of the MINI.I first started to clean it a month ago. And then got side tracked with life. so here it is today. :biggrin5:

Not to bad for a 6 year old MINI with 86K miles and lots of Texas dust!

Well I feel like a real gear head.
I know from all that I have read that this is another part that probably does nothing except let me know that there is air going into my engine. But I got it as a parts package deal and I installed it all by myself.
Something about doing a engine part install that takes most of the afternoon that you can pop a good bottle of wine and feel good about doing it?
