I saw this in the 80s first - never looked at that brake pedal the same way since. Enjoy the master's footwork [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0ieRNmgxiA"]HOW TO DRIVE A RALLYE CAR -Audi Quattro Rally Driven by Walter Rohrl Portugal 1985 - YouTube[/ame]
With my expert knowledge, just from the sound, I can tell you that Roger Feghali Evo has well in excess of 2000 CP* * chipmunk-power
Those Prodrive-built MINIs are still out there, running rallies. Here's a bit of recent onboard. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACaquk_0uVY"]Onboard CRC: Levac and Lewis on SS09 at Rallye Baie des Chaleurs - YouTube[/ame]

Not too many cars I'd just like to ride in but that is #1 and will probably stay that way for a very long time. Plus it sounds like it doesn't belong on any- thing other than a paved road!

In #423 above, I noticed that, at times, the driver is on the brake and pumping the gas at the same time, with the clutch out. Not sure what is going on here, so can some experienced drivers clue me in please?
Left foot braking Jim..... Here is one of the best explaining it. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMEqOGejlrw"]WRC - Colin McRae - Left-Foot Braking Lessons - YouTube[/ame]
In that one, he was using the brake and the gas separately, which I understand. In the other one it looked like he was on the brake and the gas at the same time and that seemed confusing. Maybe I did not see it correctly.
I had a nice talk with Erik Carlsson back in 1988 at the SAAB club national meet. Of course I asked him about his rally career & the subject of left foot braking came up. He said the original reason he did left foot braking was because his 2 stroke SAAB's had little power & no torque at low RPM. Lifting off the gas lost him all the power the motor had. Hence right foot down on the throttle & left foot for the brakes. He said that he then could also change the cars attitude with the brakes. He sure was a nice guy to spend time with me & reminisce about his old SAAB rally cars.
Yes, those Prodrive MINIs are still out there rallying. Just the first 15sec of this short clip but still. I'd forgotten how good they sound. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCvb5ZS8cEA"]Krizovka Václava Pecha na Žlutavách - YouTube[/ame]

Wow that now that is really the speed shot. Love that you can see every little thing on the road surface. Craig Breen sure can wheel that Pug. :arf:
This is kind of fun, though 'atmosphere' deserves quotes. And that ^^ MINI (post 256) is back with quite a bit more coverage in this one. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM2slETKkQg"]ATMOSPHERE at Barum Czech Rally Zlin 2015 - GHrallyemotion - YouTube[/ame]
