Poor Kubica what a terrible feeling to under-steer off the road. Looks like he busted the rad. At least Kubica helped keep another Ford on the road. That road looks slicker than shirt.
I think this is the same corner, and maybe the same tree, that stopped Kubica. Paddon ended up with a deranged suspension (left, rear) and had to retire. This is prior to Kubica's off (I think) and also why I figure Kubica's car's presence may have saved Evans' day. Looks like the same corner to me. That did not look like a hard hit, but man it wonked out the rear suspenders real good. Lots of rear toe out maybe 6 inches of it.

Slick as snot here, dry there, back and forth. Might be even more difficult to drive consistently than all snow or all ice. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plRJ2ncf2qM"]WRC Rallye Monte Carlo 2016 - Day 2 [HD] - YouTube[/ame]
Nothing slicker than wet snow or ice with a bit of water on top. I'm thinking tire choice is making a big impact here. Looks like they are using tires for the lower elevations where it is dry & slipping like crazy on the high parts of the stages.
I think it was last year that one driver was using studded tyres on two diagonal wheels and soft slicks on the other two, to cover all conditions, which is a pretty wild mix.
Kris Meeke retired after Stage 12. He finished the stage, somehow only just over 2sec slower than Ogier, but this (see video, below) caused damage they couldn't repair. Latvala also retired today. Despite what this headline might imply, his retirement was because of the suspension damage done immediately beforehand. So, no surprise Ogier now has a comfortable 2min lead. Yup. Neuville tried this today and won two stages (12 & 13). Stage 9: Stage 10: Stage 11: Stage 12: Stage 13:
Ogier is doing what Seb Loeb did. Crushing the competition. Trying to save a piece of equipment while a rally car heads for your arse. He's damn lucky & damn stupid.
