Little known benefit of the new Aston Martin F1 deal is that Cygnet will get a street legal version of the Red Bull F1 engine and finally be able to keep up with the bigger Astons.

I think the new Renault livery brings some welcome color the grid.

I think we have our new Crashtor replacement driver. Haryanto had more than his share of incidents during the tests and now, at the start of FP3 (the first dry practice session of the season), he crashed into Grosjean...in the pitlane...before either of them could make it to the track to put in their first lap!

I think it will get better if the teams adjust their strategies. What I think we saw was a little passive aggressive protest by the teams in the later rounds.

There's an emergency meeting tomorrow. Whether they'll go back to the old format or just tweak the new, team principals and Bernie are determined there will be change in time for Bahrain. Whether they'll be able to convince the FIA is another subject...

Well, what a complete and total mess qualifying was. As I predicted, we saw consequences with the new rules that the big brains at the FIA somehow could not envision. Instead of the hoped result of more excitement, more suspense, more cars on track, the fans were treated to many, many minutes of absolutely NO CARS ON TRACK while the qualifying session clock slowly counted down! And that made for some extremely boring TV watching. So, instead of giving every driver during a session some hope, no matter how little it might have been, of bettering their times during the total remaining time in the session, instead the new rules forced teams to decide to not even try - they just gave up. Complete failure.

No, I agree with Bruce - no amount of tweaking is going to make this work......

the final order will wind up being pretty much as it would have been, but now you have tons of dead air space on TV....

I was hoping that it might result in a shuffled order and it did a bit, but not in a meaningful way for the race.

I'm not sure Ferrari does have the beans to beat the Benzer boys after all, the one interesting change is Riccardo's Red Bull is much stronger than I think anyone expected him to be, despite the qually result.

Tomorrow is going to be interesting.

Well that sucked big time. Way to go Bernie & your Minions. You need to make things interesting & what you did was the opposite of that. The fastest cars are at the front, but others were caught out by the musical chairs qualifying format.

Don't think one can blame Haryanto for the pit lane crash. Instead you can blame the team member or his seeing eye dog. Crashtor would have run his team member over & hit the Haas car.

Even Bernie said it was "pretty crap".....

Think they'll get it changed back before the next race?

Dreadful. I want the 3 hours I stayed up past my bedtime back Bernie.

Talk is that there was to a be a big powwow with all the team principals today with Bernie piped in from his London Palace via Skype.
