This is fun. Niki Lauda says things and then the Merc PR team all groan, shake their collective heads and leap into action.

Qually brought few surprises......but one thing I've noticed - the other teams are getting faster as the season goes along, but the gap to Mercedes is getting wider - not smaller!

At this point I think the championship is done, the only remaining question is whether Rosbug can keep the Hamster at bay for the rest of the season and regain his early season winning form, otherwise the driver's championship is done too.

It's a shame really, I had hoped a couple of the other teams would catch up to the Benzer boys and give them a run this year......but as it is unless Ham and Cheeze take each other out, the rest are just out for a Sunday drive.

Looks like it will be a good race. Pretty sure Nico's nuts are on the chopping block if he tries another stunt like last weeks. I'm absolutely sure every driver out there drives their heart out & no one is out for a Sunday drive dave. I see you are still watching, thought you'd given up on F1.

Yep many races within one race. I wish there was a bit more parity, but enjoy the racing all the same. See you at the races tomorrow.

Merc was just sand bagging, trying to make it look good with Ferrari. Now the Red Bull looks close they turned up the wick again.

Remember when Ferrari and Red Bull were dominating and F1 kept changing the rules to try and stop them? None of that happening now. This is what happens when the teams have to approve the rule changes unanimously. The dominant team is never going to agree.

I thought it was funny when Mad Max told Lewis "I was catching you..." and Lewis laughed and said "No you weren't". Still confused on how Merc thought their radio messages were not "coaching", unless (puts on tinfoil cap) this was their subtle way to add a little bit more punishment to Nico for causing the contact at the previous race.

Any team with a car that is killing the rest of the field will hold back a bit. Why show your hand? It didn't look like Lewis did any sand bagging.

Why not start the race the good old fashioned way? Starting behind the safety car was a HUGE advantage for Lewis. Once they did that I knew who would win. I'm a Lewis fan, but that seemed too much of an advantage.

Maybe Benz wanted to test the waters & see what would happen if they helped out Nico? Only cost him 1 place sure could have been worse for them. Their help may have prevented a DNF for him so 10 seconds & dropping back 1 place was an easy trade off.

Great race from 2nd on back. They need more wet tracks it really spices things up.

So did Nico get bumped back to 3rd place? If he did, good.

He got a 10 sec penalty so dropped to 3rd.

The ruling is a bit controversial if only because every team wants to know how far they can push the limits of the communication ban. It may be the reason Merc have decided to appeal the decision is to get more clarity for future use.

For anyone interested in the full Rosberg <> engineer communication transcript (incl some bits that most haven't seen/heard) and an assessment of what it all might mean: http://www.racecar-engineering.com/blogs/rosberg-radio-rule-breach-explained/

Am I the only one who thinks the FIA should install massive water sprinklers at every track to help make the races more interesting? Compare the first half of the British GP against the second half.

The way I see it, the sprinklers could be set up to run randomly, perhaps time them to go off and drench the track each time Bernie says something stupid. Wait. We want some dry racing too. So make that every other time Bernie says something stupid.

Oh, if the rule is no coaching by radio, the stewards should have black-flagged Rosberg during the race. Ten seconds later on is a slap on the wrist.

Bruce, did you read the link Steve posted, they were only determined to be "a little bit" over the line, hence the "warning" and only 10 sec penalty. If you read the list of what is permitted, it's pretty extensive actually and most of what MBZ was saying to Nico was permitted - contrary to what the announcers were saying.

However, I do not understand why Force India did not warn their driver about the imminent failure of his rear brakes - under the list in the link Steve posted, that would have been OK.

Bernie suggested putting the sprinklers on the track too, a few years ago...:biggrin5:
