Seems odd that they would go to Austria, then back to England, then back to Hungary....weird lineup there. And I suppose they can't run the Canadian GP the week before the US as then they'd need racing snow tires, wonder what color sidewalls those would have?
Schedule is darn close to the years. Only races 2-3 and later in season flipped order. White Sidewalls....doh!
Ron Dennis is out of McLaren. Not sure how I feel about that. http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2016/11/15/dennis-steps-down-from-mclaren/
Ross has been tagged to head everything. Yet he turns them all down. What will it take to get him interested? The only thing he hasn't done is run the FIA or FOM.
He did express interest in getting back into F1 but he also said it would not be with a team. That doesn't leave a lot of options...
I guess we can take Germany off the schedule. Hockenheim confirms no German GP in 2017 (gpupdate.net)
Pretty darn sad if there is only 19 races next year.. Somebody needs to hold a pillow over Bernie's face so this nonsense can end.. The cost to play is way too high and venues know Bernie cannot be reasoned with.
Try not to get too excited about the new for 2017 tires. Whether they'll help performance or just look good depends on Pirelli's construction and compounds.
Yeah, that list in post #1 was misnumbered. I fixed it. There are 21 on the list and if Germany falls off it will drop to 20. Interestingly, the closest thing I can find to an official (though still provisional) calendar 1) still includes Germany but 2) Canada and Brazil have the same "subject to confirmation" asterisk as Germany.....
The new calendar has Germany dropped and a few races' dates shifted, possibly to avoid a schedule conflict with the Le Mans 24h. I'll update post #1 in a few minutes.
There were actually a number of date changes. Azerbaijan through Hungary were all moved later by a week to make some room in mid-June and avoid that Le Mans conflict. Because Germany was dropped, this still leaves room for the summer break for most of August. Singapore and Malaysia swapped dates. Mexico was moved to be a back-to-back with the USGP rather than with Brazil.
Mercedes Benz is expressing their gratitude for winning by giving away a car if you can beat a video game on their website. http://www.grandprix247.com/2016/12/01/mercedes-thank-you-fans-and-heres-an-amg-a45-to-try-and-win/
Not yet official, still interesting. French GP poised for surprise F1 return in 2018 (motorsport.com)
