It ain't a looker, but I'd love to drive that. Maybe all that ugly on these new rally cars have will make the trees cower & lean back away from the stage giving more room for lurid slides. :arf:

The new Citroen seems to be working well here for Kris Meeke. The last few seasons someone has always mentioned seeing a light shining on the ground under the left front corner of the VW during testing. It's there on the Citroen this year...and I still don't know what it is!!! [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dQmjhFf1l0"]TEST KRIS MEEKE MONTE CARLO 2017, C3 WRC - YouTube[/ame]
Really looking forward to the Monte. Hope they have snow. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbwVWSlKUnA"]Toyota yaris wrc on the snow with JM Latvala - YouTube[/ame]
Anyone know how much they're actually planning to cover this year? I assume it will be just the usual brief daily synopsis.
The Citroen gets its war paint on. First, a quote from Kris Meeke that makes me wish the season was about to start: Check out that wing!
As predicted, the unfortunate side of the Ford's look is well hidden by some livery. More pics here: http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/december-2016/ogier-livery-/page/4147--12-12-.html
Looks much better. Bet Red-Bull pump$ a huge amount of money into the team. I wish them luck, but I's like to see Toyota take a few rallies this year. I think in rally the driver can carry the car if he needs to unlike F1.
Some Italian flair for the Monte. Introducing the Fiata. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDr9t1uDVyQ"]Test Fiat 124 Abarth | Rally Monte Carlo 2017 - YouTube[/ame]
Info: Rallye Monte-Carlo Start Date: 19.01.2017 End Date: 22.01.2017 Timezone: UTC 1 Category: WRC RGT WRC2 WRC3Stages: 17 (382,65 km) Distance: 1.411,79 km Website: http://acm.mc/ Route After Thursday evening’s glamorous Monte-Carlo start in Casino Square, two tough stages in darkness in the Alps punctuate the run up to Gap. Two loops of three tests north of the town form a compact but lengthy Friday, which contains 160km of against-the-clock action. Equally gruelling third leg on Saturday features five more stages near Gap, before the last service of the rally there and a long journey back to Monaco. Sunday’s finale, as is traditional, runs in the Alpes Maritimes mountains above the Principality and features two passes over the legendary Col de Turini. Challenge Essentially an asphalt rally but unpredictable mountain weather brings varied conditions. Competitors must expect snow, ice and dry asphalt - often encountering all in the same stage. They must balance the need for grip in winter weather with that required for dry asphalt. Shrewd tyre selection providing the best compromise for frequently changing conditions is key. Experience and the ability to ‘read’ conditions is vital. Car spec Asphalt suspension. Wacky tyre selections which can include studded tyres on opposite corners of the car, matched with dry weather rubber. Two spare tyres is normal. Additional light pods for Thursday’s night stages. History Rallye Monte-Carlo is the WRC’s jewel in the crown and the oldest in the calendar. First run in 1911, it was designed to promote Monte-Carlo as a tourist destination, with competitors starting from different European cities before gathering in Monaco. The 1966 rally became famed for its controversial outcome when giant-killing Mini Coopers claimed the top three places before being disqualified for alleged infringements of headlight regulations. What’s new for 2017 More than 85 per cent of the route will be new compared to 2016. No service on Sunday morning. The final opportunity to tweak cars will be in Gap on Saturday afternoon, with a tyre fitting zone in Monaco before Sunday’s action. Sunday afternoon’s live TV Power Stage will offer bonus points to the five fastest drivers for the first time. Don’t miss The 2017 World Rally Cars! It’s the first opportunity to see the more powerful, bigger and more aggressive new-era cars on the stages. Col de Turini. One of the sport’s iconic locations, where enormous crowds will gather to watch competitors cross the mountain summit in the La Bollene Vesubie – Peira Cava test in the final leg. An incredible atmosphere and a ‘must-do’ for visitors. Sunday’s finish outside the Palace in Monaco, with monarch Prince Albert presenting the prizes.

I hope they get enough snow to be a real challenge. Looking forward to this it's one of the great ones!
We can count on spectators to move the snow onto the road. Those pictured conditions look pretty tough, a mix of snow & pavement. We are likely to see those crazy tire choices this year. :shovel:
