OK, how about some suggestions for the section from Kansas City to Columbus. Really want to try and get to the M/A headquarters. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Bend,+OR/37.7541629,-107.6818599/38.2864581,-96.7657727/39.890567,-83.0361802/Chapel+Hill,+NC/@37.6251791,-91.3303153,7z/data=!4m37!4m36!1m10!1m1!1s0x54b8c0ffa5d3d251:0x1088e7acc720d1b4!2m2!1d-121.3153096!2d44.0581728!3m4!1m2!1d-111.3961935!2d40.9000599!3s0x87523eb148a9c599:0xd06a8e4f5895506!1m5!3m4!1m2!1d-97.5037984!2d38.0285132!3s0x87bb3edc39e8cf49:0xdfafa5896f3484f0!1m10!3m4!1m2!1d-92.6553888!2d38.6414207!3s0x87c3588a98c35a19:0x9c4feafc8d55e743!3m4!1m2!1d-91.1295827!2d38.4269304!3s0x87d95bd9c372e94d:0xf73e99a1dacf7846!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x89acc31c216e7ea7:0x7f03bae00443e4cb!2m2!1d-79.0558445!2d35.9131996!3e0
WHAT??? You do not want to take I-70 East through Indianapolis [think about the Speedway] and into Ohio...passing Dayton [home of aviation] as you drive the remaining 80 or so miles to Columbus and M/A? :ihih:
The bluebonnets are blooming in Texas. As for me, personally, I would have to stop at Mount Rushmore. That is a place I've never been, but want to see. You also have some good roads in that general vicinity in the Black Hills. CD
The MA headquarters are mighty impressive, but getting through security is tough. The sharpshooters are intimidating, but when the tanks aim their cannons at you, it really puts a chill in your spine. If you do get there, make sure Nathan sets you up with the full MA spa treatment. The MA chef also cooks a mean ribeye. As a supporting member, you are also entitled to tour of Columbus in the MA blimp. CD
In Dayton, OH, off I-70, we have the USAF Museum...a grrrrrreat way to rest while you observe the history of aviation, from the beginning thru all the theatres of warfare and experimentations beyond and into new worlds.
Scott, I hope you get to pause in KC long enough to say hi and maybe get a bite to eat.... The Bluebonnets are indeed starting to bloom near San Antonio, took this photo 2 days ago there......
