Grandkids maybe, my kids prefer to drive themselves!

And as my two grandsons just imported a Honda Beat, I think they have the car gene too! :D

Just to clear something up, the free market killed the coal industry. A glut of natural gas made it the cheapest fuel for electricity generation. The supply of natural gas became higher than the demand, so the price went down. Even without any regulations on coal, natural gas would have been cheaper, because the supply exceeded the demand.

Short of taxpayer subsidies of the coal industry, it is not going to be competitive with other sources of energy any time soon. Maybe never.

As for electric cars, I think 8 years is too optimistic. But, just as cars replaced horse drawn buggies, don't be surprised if something replaces our current fossil fueled cars. Just as Henry Ford changed the world with the Model T, someone is bound to make another game-changing innovation, eventually.

    OReGO

Have you seen OReGO. Long term this kills Many birds with one stone. With the OReGO snapped in your OBD port you pay a fee for road use by the mile.

Other birds: big brother always knows where you are, big brother knows how you drive, speed? Mail you a ticket or better yet in the future pay to drive faster.

The state could sell data on your driving to insurance companies, after all it is their data.

This is a voluntary greenie gimick right now but when will it be moved to required. Just too many benefits for the government not to make mandatory.

I practiced law from 1969 thru 1974. The system was farked up then, just as it is now. I quit. Today, we, as a society, are spiraling downhill at an alarming rate. IT'S NOT GOING TO GET BETTER, at least until we can reign in the lawyers. They make the laws, they enforce the laws, AND they practice selective enforcement. Oh...we have to get rid of the lobbyists also. Rant over....
