Tire pressures can have a lot to do with the handling. As for the auto, try sport mode....

Just got Bitsy back. Can't beat the feel of an R series with a 6 speed :) I will say the F series does have some nice seats though! :D

So what was your whining sound from the steering?

It wasn't steering, but it sounded like a faint power steering noise, like when the old Chevy would be low on fluid, only it rose and fell with the RPM's and turning the wheel had 0 effect on the noise.
They ran some tests, did multiple start ups and determined that the car is perfectly operational with 0 issues. They didn't hear anything abnormal so when I got there today I started it up, pointed out the noise and apparently the noise I had them look into is normal. One tech brought me over to his MINI and it has the same noise, sooooo, I guess I cried wolf. They told me that the only loudness they noticed was my resirc valve being extremely loud upon cold startup but it's due to my intake amplifying it.
Being an R56 owner, I'm super paranoid if I hear any odd noises that I haven't noticed before.

So far with only three days driving, it is smoother and quieter. The gearbox still clatters a bit, so I think I'm going to HAVE to replace the clutch and throw out bearing, but there is no doubt it shifts smoother and is running better with little valve train noise now.

More as I put miles on it.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Put 50 miles on my Dark Helmet twin this morning. I'm lucky to drive it once every couple of weeks, can't stay off the Indian.

Ethel paid a visit to South Hampton England today. She was not able to get off the ship since it was a one way flow of new mini's headed on board. Checked on her a few minutes ago and the MV Integrity she is taking her cruise on had just cleared the Isle of Wright and was steaming for open water on Ferris wat to Baltimore?

Only a few more weeks until she arrives !!

Had to go for groceries today so I took it out and scrubbed the rust off the rotors. First time I've moved it in a week. I'm taking it about 30 miles tomorrow to Outback Steakhouse. My Grandson wants to buy a steak for me and his stepdad as a late Father's Day present. Everything was too crowded today.

I'm still waiting for my production number to show on the MINI website. How do you track the shipping vessel once it's loaded?

If it loads to a wallenius Whilhelmson they scan every car by vin# arriving to their yard loading unloading etc. you go to tracking on The site below and key the full 17 digit vin in the cargo ID and you are good to go. About 1/3 sail on K-line. If it doesn't show up on the above site while awaiting transport them when it goes enroute just look at the K-line schedule about 5 days back and that's most likely your ship.

You will get a vin on he tracking sire once it goes scheduled for production.

Drove her into work today. Once there, headed to the Amsoil.com and tried to crack $100 to get free shipping... I landed at $95 including shipping. Bast*rds. I ordered oil for my next oil change and MTF as I'll be changing that at the same time.

Mother Nature detailed mine for me again last night. Taking it to lunch in a few minutes and will be giving my Grandson a ride home afterwards via some back country roads. Beautiful days for some twisties while everyones at work. Gotta love retirement!
