Is it a two or three pedal variety?

2 Pedal. It has the PDK dual clutch transmission.
I was looking to get a Manual Transmission but the remaining new 2016 Cayman GTS models all had PDK at the dealerships I searched.
I am glad I ended up with a PDK. The PDK is more of a manual than an automatic transmission. It upshifts and downshifts very nicely when in Sport Plus Mode. I sometimes miss the manual but overall I am happy with the PDK. It is nice not having to think about shifting during an Auto-X and I can concentrate on other aspects.

Very nice Cayman and it was great to see it being used properly on the course. :) How did you do?

1st in Class at the two PCA Auto-Xs.
5th out of 35 in Open Class at Corvette Club Auto-X. All non-Corvettes run in one big class. The cars that beat me had racing tires.

You don't have to justify it to me. I drove both on track. I liked the PDK better.

Also, it's not an automatic. It's a dual clutch sequential gearbox. It doesn't have planetary gears, torque converter, or a valve body.
