In an interesting turn of events, the Joest racing folk have been signed by Mazda to run their IMSA DPi program starting in 2018. If you can't quite remember why that name is familiar, think about all the success of the Audi prototypes...yup, the same Joest Racing will be the factory Mazda Prototype team.
Not a bad move for Mazda. The current team sure is not performing. Could this be a reaction to Penske running the Acura Prototypes?
I completely missed this so in case it wasn't obvious to all re the Mazda-Joest connection... Mazda have now dropped out of the 2017 season. I knew they wouldn't be racing as Mazda Team Joest until the 2018 season starts but missed the immediate termination of their current program. No Mazda prototypes for the rest of 2017.
Just finished watching the big boys race at Mosport, now that was a great race and right down to the wire.
