Here is mine. I shot it at the Monterey Historics a few years ago. Mario was doing some serious hot laps for the crowds.I have bigger versions, but this is what was handy. Great car, great driver. CD .
Off topic, but... I had the good fortune to spend a day with Mr. Andretti at his winery, for a magazine article I was assigned to. Super nice guy. I rarely photograph people (I'm not that good at it, and prefer to shoot "things"), but he was one of the few. How do you say "no" to that kind of opportunity. CD .
I am going to St. Louis tomorrow to photograph a Gurney Eagle, although it is an Indy Car, not formula one. It was a Smokey Yunick team car in 1969. It finished 6th after running in 2nd, when a hose clamp broke and caused the car to lose power. If anyone wants to see it, I'll post it up when I have it done. CD
CD - Yes - please post.. would love to see! Also I've heard Andretti is super nice.. and that is a good pic. Would love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. =)
The photoshoot went well. I'm in the St. Louis airport now. I'll upload a pic or two when I get home. Beautiful car. The guy had a warehouse full of Indycars, and a few Can-Am cars. CD
Here she is. Not an F1 car, but still nice to look at. It is an AAR Eagle, with Smokey Yunick livery colors. CD .
Here is something cool. One of the owners of the car drove it at Goodwood. I got to meet him. Really nice guy. Here is the Goodwood Festival of Speed tech inspection label, still on the car. He told me it is pretty easy to drive, as long as you are ready when that big turbo gets on boost. CD .
Big turbo, about 800HP, 1,300 pound car. Do the math. That kick in the arse could lead to a load in the pants for mere mortals, like me. :eek6: CD
I know the look of this one is polarizing but I guess I like the oddballs. (1975 Martini Brabham Ford BT44)
The BT44 and BT45 had always been my favorites. Especially the BT44 when it was plain white with no sponsor's logos.
What amazes me is it shows up on an "ugliest F1 cars of all time" list from time to time. Of course, so does the Tyrrell P34 so I don't really pay much attention.
