Since it is a scant 190 miles from home to the event I was thinking of headed out there. I see Pittstop MINI is listed as one of involved clubs but the Pittstop site has like nothing.

    So whats the deal?

When to arrive, where to stay, what to see, what to do, when to be where?

    Thanks!

I e-mailed them last year about their plans. Still waiting to hear back from them. Maybe you will have better luck that I did Nathan.

It's been 21 years since I've been to that event. As I remember it is a very nice one. Gotta love vintage racers on real roads.

    Hi guys!
I think the club officers and the dealership are still working on plans. I'll try to see what I can find out.

This is what happened last year:
We met at the West End Overlook around 8ish. Google Maps Here we had donuts/juice/coffee and each got our picture taken in front of the cityscape.

Around 10ish we lined up and were police escorted straight to Shenley Park. We all parked in the MINI section then around noon we had a catered lunch. Some prizes/announcements and then we were on our own for the rest of the day to look around the show/races. (Events end around 4 each day.)

Sunday was 'come/go as you please', we can park in the same place as Saturday and then mingle around the car show.

Official PVGP links: Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association and Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association | International Car Show at Schenley (Note: It doesn't look like this page has been updated since last year.)

ps. you might want to post this on 'the other forums' too, i think more of us are over there more regularly.

My friend and I are doing the Kick-Off Rallye on July 10th in my as-of-yet undelivered MCS. If you don't know what TSD Rallies are check out these guys. They're local and do a great job.

If you do decide to participate, just remember, "It's not a race, it's a Rally!"

Have you done the rallies before? We do them with BRMSCC in my MINI occasionally. We're not doing the kick-off one though.

Now that really brings back memories and sounds like fun. Pitt is not close for me however. :nonod:

Is anything close for you? Other than the back 40.

Remember driving your MINI is fun. :D

By close, I mean doable in a day. The wife does not like to have to take care of the back 40 all buy herself (can't really blame her), so MOTD is normally my big trip of the year.

Doing a TSD rally in a MINI would be a blast. Can you still get those clip boards with the two stop watches attached to the top? :D

Jim, open the gate & let the horses be free range for a day. Your neighbors will have a hoot. Speaking of horses I see you are up early milking them.

TSD rallies are about dead on this side of the pond. Most folks nowadays don't have a clue what one is. I find that quite sad.

Hummm, you mean like "free range chickens". Not sure how well that would go over. Yep, feeding time at the zoo starts early.

It is sad. TSD's were great fun.

The proper PittStop authorities in charge of planning the PVGP have been notified of your interest.

I got some more details. I was told they should be going up on the website every soon.

Activities should be about the same as last year. Pictures, coffee, & donuts at the West End Overlook 8am on Saturday July 23rd. Police escorted parade around 10am to the car show. A hot lunch will be provided there. Car show and races will be going on till 4.

Cost will be around $15 a car thanks to MINI of Pittsburgh. Most of that $$ goes to PVGP charities.

In past years there as been ~ 70 MINIs.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah, my friend and I have been doing the BRMSCC rallies for almost a year now. We probably make it to about half of them a year. We take turns driving and have gone in three or four different cars by now. My friend's new 2011 GTI will be debuting this weekend, and then I'll be up for two straight in my new 2011 MCS, the half-national rally on the 19th and the PVGP Kick-off in July.

I'm aware of CORC. Yep they are still rare. Long gone are the days of the ORC & MONY series. Large fields & all nighters are a fond memory.

    Back on topic.... PVGP
