Has anyone installed (or attempted to install) racing or tuning type seats in a 1st gen convertible? I'm planning to do this, but looks like there's a potential clearance issue at the seat belt slot area with most any seat with broad shoulder bolsters. Looks like the max width you could fit at that point would be about 21" and that would be tight - most seats I like are wider than that. This wouldn't be quite the same in a hardtop, because the seat belt winder bilges more in the convertible.

    Anyone?

If you were at the Dragon with this idea we could have taken one of my Recaros out to do a test fit for you.

I have Mitu Evo IX 9 seats and they are great.

Yep, I saw and sat in your seats. :)

I had the idea there... just hadn't figured out the shoulder space limitation until I started measuring this week. :)

But I've looked at several pairs of those seats on ebay since then...
