My car is going into Cinci Mini to determine why the 'idiot' oil pressure switch is not working. My confirmation email detailed that I wanted an oil change. I called the dealership to make sure I didn't get an oil change. As I am dropping my car off early, I will not have a chance to talk to the service advisor. When I called, the w/o said to 'reset' the oil pressure light. Is this a programming issue?

    Goldsmithy,
See if this PDF helps. I copied the pages I could find in the Bentley manual on the oil pressure switch and the elec diagram.

It looks like the switch is part of the base o the oil filter canister. the manual says to remove the connector and replace with a jumper to see if the lights come on.

    Good Luck.

I knew this was going to get screwed up. Made an appt at CinciMini because the oil pressure warning light was not working. The first rep said.."why do you want it to come on
'..I knew I was in trouble. Confirmation email said I was scheduled for an oil change (they changed the oil a month ago). Called and again tried to explain my problem--they asid they understood. I had to drop the car off on Sun and got a call from a service advisor. He said they diagnosed my car and found a fuse blown for the fan. OK- fix that...

The fuse had to be ordered and I was called the car was ready on Wed. Wednesday was a busy day for me and I got to the dealer about 1:00. They brought my car down all shiney and pretty. I paid the bill w/o looking at the paper work. I got in the and guess what...the oil pressure warning light was not working. They took the car back to service. I looked at the paper work. The comment by the teck...No oil pressure gauge installed...nothing done. They were quite embarrassed.

Took the car and left at 4:30. I can't wait till I get my garage cleaned out so I can tackle what I can myself.

    But they have good donuts...

This is the shop on Stewart Ave? I've taken mine there a few times and had nothing but excellent service.

Yep, the one on Stewart Ave. I was there once before to have the fluids changed and the service was excellant. Checked the oil a couple of days later and it was at the little ball on the end of dipstick. Took about 1/2 a quart to fill it up. I thought I might have a problem but the oil level hasn't changed since I filled it. No big deal...just noted.

I have another appt on Tuesday . I am not slamming them. They just need some better communication, the lack of which results in poor customer service. The teck should have asked somebody when he didn't see an oil pressure gauge...just my opinion.

Here's a follow up. I cancelled my Tue. appt. I went to the dealership on Mon. to pick up some mud-flaps I had ordered. The service manager was standing there and I started talking to him, invited him out to look at my car (they were supposed to detail it--crap job) and he agreed with me. Offered to take it back to the shop and have the detailing done. I told him I would do it myself.

And then to the oil pressure warning light issue. I explained to the service manager(when he asked about communications) that I had explained the problem to 3 separate service advisors and each said the understood. The problem is that my oil pressure warning light is not working. You know...the light that should come on when you turn the key...just to show it's working. The service manager called out the shop foreman. He didn't shed any light on why the light wasn't working. I was in a hurry to leave, so the service manager (Eric) took my VIN as I didn't have the previous paperwork with me. I am holding my breath waiting for his reply...I sure hope I don't die waiting... :) :)

    Hey Goldsmithy....
I made a point of looking at my idiot lights this morning as I was starting my MINI....
My oil light doesn't turn on and do a "self check" to make sure the bulb isn't burnt out either...

Are you sure they are supposed to come on at the start.... I'm thinking these aren't normal filament bulbs, but are probably surface mount LED's behind the faceplate....

So perhaps the fact they don't light up when you start the engine may not indicate an issue...

    Just my $0.02

I am not holding my breath anymore...I am breathing fire. Why? ... because NOTHING from Eric ( the big honcho service manager). Oh well, at least I didn't get hosed for a lot of money.

I have cleaned out my garage and will be doing all the maintenance I can. I bought a Bentley. Now, I'm in trouble....

Can anyone tell me the fuse for the Stage 2 aux fan?The dealer replaced it...but if it blows again I want to know where to look for it. It's probably operator error as I can't find it in the Bentley.

I was contacted by CinciMini after I filled out their customer survey form. I was asked to bring my car back in and they would detail it and TRY to find the oil light problem. I told them that repairs are TRUST sensitive and not price sensitive. If CinciMini can't even detail a car properly, I am sure as hell not going to give them free hand to find the oil light problem, especially at their hourly rate. Issue closed. And, they lost a customer.

I'm pretty surprised by all this. I wonder if they've had a staff change since I was there last. It's been a couple of years.
