My wife had an odd thing happen to her a few days ago, or maybe not to odd given the front windshields mini uses. She was washing her MINI and the front windshield cracked from top almost to the bottom. She doesn't want to fix it till summer is over for fear of it happening agin. I told her we would get a PPG brand windshield to replace it sense they are better made. Has anyone els had this happen. She has a 2014 R57
Its out of warranty. One problem is she is a little protective of her mini! I told her I would have it fixed and that we need to have the alignment checked. She said "no, I don't want anyone messing with my car". I told her I would take it to the guy that aligns my car he is the best guy I have ever seen. I still get no. Then she said she doesn't want me messing with it! I told her it was ok she could trust me I was a MINI doctor. She was have non of it!
Dave is spot on regarding Pilkington. That's what was used on mine when it broke. Understand it is the OEM glass. I know it varies from state to state, but check your auto insurance policy. Here in Florida, both front and rear glass is covered with no deductible. Hopefully, it will be the same for you. Sent using Tapatalk
Ok thanks guys. When I get home I will see if I can find an installer that uses Pilkington glass. Now if I can pry the car from her.
Lee find out who the local body shops and dealerships use and trust and that's the glass installer you want to use.
Pilkington FTW. Now to get the car away from your sweetie. Also be there when the glass is replaced. I've had a bad experience in the past when Babs had one replaced while she was at work. A total hack job.
It's her car and she already told you in no uncertain terms, "no, I don't want anyone messing with my car". Wait for her to initiate it. If they screw it up it will be YOU who messed with her car. Just sayin'.
Not shown in the picture... sheriff in a lawn chair with police dog and rifle across his lap watching the work getting done. He better not screw up.
