While that how to is for a 1st gen MINI I'd imagine that a lot of the info is transferable to the 2nd gen as well.
Thank you still learning the site, I am hoping I can find a homelink mirror and install as wiring is not my thing.
Whoops, my bad... And this where I pipe in and say if there was a Garage for the MINI in question a quick peek would have told me it was an 07 R52.
Try Part # 51-16-7-133-702. That should be OEM home link mirror. It's about $200. Not sure if there is a different part number for the convertible, but it looks as though it's a direct swap.
Actually, the part number you are looking for is 51169134361. Not cheap at $380. That is why I did the DIY to start with. But here is the link if you want to go the OEM route anyway: Penske Parts - Technical Diagrams - R53 Cooper S (W11) Coupe
Hi all. It has been years since I have been out here, but you were so helpful in assisting me in programming my 20+ year old garage door opener with my 2007 MINI Cooper. Now 10 years later, the car is still going strong but my 30+ year old garage door opener died and it is too old to repair. I am seeing issues with new openers not necessarily working with older cars. I am looking at Chamberlain openers; some come with MyQ and others with HomeLink (but may require Compatibility Bridge). Anyone have any experience with either of these and if they worked? I don't plan to replace the car (still loving it after 10 years) but I hate to lose the built in remote if I can avoid it. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
I know that HomeLink works with Genie rolling-code openers, because that's what i have at my home. HomeLink is so popular, I can't imagine ANY garage door opener brand making their units incompatible -- that would be a sales-killer. Call Chamberlain's customer support and ask, but it seems like they would be nuts to not be HomeLink compatible. CD
