1st Gen R53 Cooper S Raceseat install, headroom improvements?

    The Cooper S(05-06) is on a shortlist of cars i'm looking into for this spring. I'm 6'4" and my hair will rub the headliner if I have a bad hair day unless I use a ghetto lean in a Cooper S with sunroof.

    I saw 2-3 thread with great install details but nothing on if it iimproved headroom.

    Option 1: find a Cooper S without sunroof(not so common) and see if it's better.Just finding one

    Option 2: Install a race bucket if it helps with headroom. I was looking at how the OEM seats are designed, i'm sure some gains can be had, just how much...

    Anyone has before/after they can give info on?

    Hmmmmm........ my brother has no problems with head room in my sunroof-less MINI and he is 6'4" also.

    Maybe a different haircut.....? :biggrin5:

    My Dad's 6'4" and he fits in the Clubby with a sunroof. I think the critical thing is seat positioning, you just need to drop the seat down. Or what Scott said :wink:

    Tall i'm not but I do suffer from short leg long torso. Wearing a helmet in my 06 with sunroof was darn uncomfy.

    A set of MOMO seats on Sparco rails fixed that.

    So yeah, race seats can give you more headroom.

    Awesome, thanks. I got a long torso too so that's an issue in many cars, even more with helmets.

    The Mini just gained a few extra bonus points on my short list of cars i'm looking into for lapping this spring :)
