Actually seeing it on ground level changes the appearance of the car from the original photos... Before I thought it looked like a little fish... now, it's less of one. Too much chrome, but I agree, that color is perfect!

*Edit: The lines of the older gens accented the front end so well, giving it a nice refined edge. These are more like blobs... gotta see it in person I guess. If you squint it makes it slightly look like the front grill shape from the Austin Mini's...

Well those long lens shots kind of distort the per-portions. It still is recognizable as a MINI.

Those DRL make it look like a cartoon character from the movie Cars. Are those giant tail lights lifted from a countryguy?

Plenty of ground clearance for those of us who travel on gravel roads.

The color needs more Blu.... :p

It's a shame that they have to design a car for morons who cant look before they cross the street. :mad2:
I went and looked at all the pictures. I will reserve final judgment till I see it up close. But its not the long lens making it look bad. I'm sorry I really would like it to be a good looking car but its not.
Saying its the lens or its not in the right light is like saying your ugly girlfriend is a super model, she's just not in the right light. To bad you can't count on that light. :eek6:

Just for the recored I like The coupe, roadster and the convertible.

I know not every MINI can look as good as the R53. Its hard to improve on perfection. :biggrin5::biggrin5::biggrin5:

    Sorry I couldn't wait on Dave.O

I think it's more the other way around, that they are designing for inattentive and careless drivers.

If that was my only car, and I had to drive it, I would drive it in reverse, so hopefully no one would notice the front.

I knew all you nasayers would not let us down.:lol:

I still like it and the fact that they added more low end torque to the justa, shows they are paying attention. I think the future is looking bright myself.

I'm with you Jim, I think MINI is in the right direction with the F56.

    Harsh but funny!

I think the front is too chromed up & too busy, but you can't really tell what it looks like because there're no front side pics. I like the back end & the profile with diminishing side glass.

Full disclosure: I own an R53, hate the Coupe/Roadsters. You pays yer money & makes yer choice...

I agree about the profile with the diminishing side glass. It gives a less box look without taking too far. I also agree about all the chrome, but we always black that out anyway, so no problem. :D

Honestly, if my wife stumbled onto that web page, she would recognize it as a MINI and move on, not noticing that anything is different.
