Ok guys so I dipped the hood scoop just a few hours ago but I'm not sure if I like it which is why I'm glad I only plasti dipped it. What do you guys think, keep or take off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Do the chrome around the headlights too, then maybe it'll look better?... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea I had someone else say that too so I might be spraying that as well and just see if it looks any better
Yea that was the plan, I'm not a permanent color type of person LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I dipped my scoop and have the headlight trim done, I ended up taking it off. At first, like you, I was unsure. I ended up peeling it off but I do kinda dig it on your car. 50/50 here.
I go back and forth on things too. I dipped my roof black 3 years ago, but I'm going to peel it and go white this summer. I get bored and do things really.
You could always dip the grilles too so that it's the same type of black and it's better color matched. Even as it is I like it but I'd at least do the headlight trim as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea I'm thinking of doing some racing stripes on the hood and do the headlight trim and see if it looks any better and if not I'll just peel it but the only problem is I might need a new one because I found that only one screw holds it in place so I would have to find someone to paint match this thing which is kinda hard since I've been told my car looks faded really bad is it really faded that badly? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No.... Not faded badly.... Just tell critics it's the exceedingly rare MINI color "Pastel Yellow"....
I really can't tell if the black scoop matches the other black pieces on your car, in particular, the grill. If you don't get it exactly the same, it can clash. That's a pet peeve of mine. As for paint fading, I'm sure it has, to some degree. When I replaced my weathered hood stripes, I had the sign shop cut the vinyl an eighth of an inch too wide, so it would cover the fact that the paint under the original stripes was slightly darker than the rest of the paint on the hood. The biggest challenge to this kind of modification is to avoid overthinking it. The older I get, the more I tend to not mess with what already looks good. That said, I think MINIs look good with hood stripes. CD
Yea I'm just trying figure out if I like it and for the most part I do but a lot of people said they didn't think it looks good but I like it just seems with some stripes and doing the headlight trim could really make it look better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Do the head lights and see what you think. Right now all you have it the black scoop so it kind of sticks out. But once you do the lights and strips it wont be such a stark contrast. Its your mini if you like it go for it. There use to be a yellow and black mini around here called bumble bee, it looked good. I think Dave may have said that.
Another thing I was curious about is how rare is my color? I've seen they only did liquid yellow from 02-04 but how can I find how many S models were made and how many are still around driving? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There should be a way to find the number of Liquid Yellows built, but finding out how many are still on the road is going to be impossible. Cars get wrecked, they get abandoned, and they get destroyed and pulled off of the road all the time... Not all of them are reported to anyone, so there is no real way to tell. I have looked for the exact amount built for 02 but nothing came up? I have to admit I've only seen 2 yellow mini's same year on the road since I've owned mine and that is between two different states LOL
That's kinda like me and the Porker... I know there were probably a bunch of Midnight Grey R60's built, but I have only seen ONE around here besides the one in my driveway. Different colors are often distributed in different states depending on prior sales figures... Well at least for dealer ordered cars... It makes some sort of sense to track and sell cars in a color that is popular in one area or another, it's part of what a good marketing strategy is about. I used to see quite a few Liquid Yellows around here, but now there isn't many, but the color was only used for a couple years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
