You could take off the door panel and see if tapping on the motor with a wrench would work. Or should I call it a spanner?:D

what takes you away for 6 months?

Also just been out today to her as had a pain in ass creaking when at low speeds on the steering column!!!

did some research and found common prob with the bearing that sits under the column covers

got some spray white bearing grease, found the problem ,lubbed it all up so no longer dry but still only 80% fixed AHHHHHH

followed the noise and turns out the last 20% was the bearings at the top of the shock mounts, lifted the bonnet ,popped the caps and both sides looked like the grease on the bearings there had vanished yrs ago lol again a good spray of grease and a few turns of steering wheel and wow quite as a mouse !!!!!

All fixed well for now !!!! if comes back again will respray if keeps coming back i will have to change the steering column bearing and bush then the mount bearings neither is a big job but would have to wait till may 2017 when i return, But for now the wife will be happy that her lovely cooper s is all fixed

Been out again for a drive and on heavy acceleration and deacceleration the engine seemed to have a slight jerk :confused5:

any way had a quick look at engine mounts and the lower one at the back of the engine was ripped and letting the engine move when hard driving

was going to buy a new one but instead i decided to have a go at making my own lol

got some chemicals[IMG][/IMG]

then had a go ,heres the mount drying,
[IMG][/IMG]

hopefully it will dry ok and work if not i will just buy a new one ,was worth having ago as if works will save me ££££££s in the long run

The only slight jerk in my car is me!

I used to make urethane bushings for a plastics company, a long time ago.

well woke this morning ,had a look at my new bush and well happy it worked and no leakage either

looks sweet and def very stiff today i will make the front one then refit it :beer:beer

think i will do same to all my engine mounts from now on so easy to do but next ones i will get a dye for it and make them red, did not want to spend more money on dye this time incase it was harder to do than it looked and messed it up

but no more buying them for me now i no how easy it is

where on the engine do they fit?? look very much like the old mounts you have on a classic mini or are they just extra mounts you can add to the car
