I recently upgraded to 17" wheels and tires and noticed that the ride seems harsher. Not bad, but I want more comfort for my ailing old bones. Can anyone recommend a good shock for a more comfortable ride than the stock shocks. As always, TIA for any suggestions...

Koni FSD struts & shocks may help you out. From what I have heard the folks who have these like the ride. One thing, don't use them if you are lowered.

I've used Koni FSD and they do improve the ride. Another consideration is choice of tires. As a rough rule of thumb, a higher performance tire means stiffer sidewall and harsher ride.

Which wheels and tires did you get?

Also Run Flats will make the ride extremely stiff.

they are not designed to be run lower in the travel.
    it will destroy them immediately.
Personally i think they are turds from the beginning.

    FSD's are junk.

Just dump run flats "RunRocks" and buy real tires.
Next replace your springs with softer ones but NOT lowering springs.

Then if it's still too harsh put a think pillow under your delicate ass or trade your MINI for an older Caddie.

So, question to the OP... what size wheels and tires were you running before the 17s? If that was the only change to the car and you noticed the harshness to be too much for you, why not just go back to the smaller wheels and enjoy the little extra cushion that the extra sidewall provides?

I'm interested in knowing why as well. I've heard they are junk from individuals who's opinion I respect but I haven't found the reason.
The threads I've found with people who have had issues with their FSDs have been on cars that have been lowered.

Because they don't last and who keeps a car at stock height?
