It's been a while since I've needed the support form you guys, my 03 R53 just hit 150K and has been running strong. This past summer I got a p2096 lean code, could not find anything wrong, car was still strong. I finally pressurized my exhaust with a compressor and soapy water found bubbles at the pre-cat. I ordered a scorpion exhaust from Bavarian auto...took 3 months to arrive from England. Installed it (sounds nice with my jcw cat back. But it did not fix my long term fuel trim problems, even after 1000 miles. Replaced rear o2, ic boots (I'm pushing 15psi with my craven 15% pulley; installed after I got code while I had things apart, tensioner, idler, ATI harmonic balancer (awesome btw)Etc. etc. car went in for power steering recall, told them not to touch anything else, a week later limp mode from failed wiring harness at throttle body...earlier replaced throttle pedal for potentiometer code. Replaced throttle body to2 voltages look good, map readings are within tolerance. Sprayed all hoses with carb cleaner , starting fluid...no evidence of vacuum leak. Long term fuel trim at 11%, bought gt1/DIS but can't get it running on 64 bit machines. :mad2: Anyone on northern NJ that can clear my adaptations?
I am west of philly and I can reset the adaptions but you should buy a BavTech cable. Just buy the basic cable $179.00 http://www.bavariantechnic.com/buy.aspx
Resetting adaptives might solve the problem and clearing that code -- its a hard code. i.e. you need bavtech tool or similar, or stealership. When you say air bubbles pre-cat do you mean the header was leaking. Or leaking at the header/cat-back gasket? Assume you have OEM header.
P2096 tests I stuffed a rag and an air line up the tail pipe and pressurized to 10psi, I sprayed soapy water on all the joints...I had a circumferential crack on the pre cat to collector weld. Probably because I neglected to replace the top motor mount. Not sure if this was the root cause. Only other oddities are a chattering evaporator purge valve, but no evap codes. The chattering sounds like a valve tap, and theoreticall could be a vacuum leak if the gas cap is bad. I've read some gas cap codes were deleted by dealers since they were a nuisance.:mad2:
Had my adaptations reset by BB&Z in NJ, tech had to do it twice...good guys very fair. I'll keep forum posted if it returns. Thanks guys. Bb&z auto repair 1167 rt 23 south Kinnelon n.j 07405 973-291-8785
