I plan on putting 19x8.5 30mm offset rims combined with 225-30-19 tires on a r56. It's mostly for show but do anyone think I'll have a problem with rubbing on the wheel arches? Btw I don't plan on lowering the car because I'm also adding a 2" carbon fiber splitter. What do you guys think?

By the way since I'm going from 4x100 lugs to 5x114.3 lugs, there's also a 2" adopter going to add to the chaos. Anybody?

19's on any MINI in NYC is just asking for flat tires and broken rims.

This will be a Floridian car & put mostly in shows to display my business. I will drive it but it won't be everyday. I have 18" rims with 215-35-18 rubbers now & never had a problem.

For shows you could be fine. If your getting them locally try fitting a wheel without a tire. Look for possible rub on the strut. Put a yard stick across the front of the rim to see where it could hit the arches. The plastic of the arches can be trimmed easily. Check the back too. Keep your 18" to drive on.

    19" on a R53...

You will need low profile "rubber band" tires...

Thanks guys & I did come up with a solution. There's a racing parts company that has the 4x100 to 5x114.3 adopters I need & it's less than an inch thick. The tires I was told to go with are 215-35-19's. This set up with the 30mm offset should only be a little under 2 inches extra when compared to Cooper S stock 205-45-17 set up. Oh & here are the rims I'm looking to use. [IMG]

I know this is a poor photoshop but this is probably close to how it'd look.[IMG]

My opinion ...that looks totally out of proportion to the car. If it is a show car, buy a trailer and a Ford F150. I would like to see the paint job you are planning...

A member of my local MINI club had some BBS wheels that he liked that that weren't available in a four bolt pattern. He had the holes welded up and then had them redrill the wheels to fit the MINI bolt pattern.

I can't get into it all but it won't have a paint job. If you're also wondering it won't have a wrap either. Hey M1N1 what's wrong with it? I might have it out of proportion a little but those are the styles you see on aftermarket tuned cars like BMW's, Mercedes, Audis, Lamborghini, Porsches Ferraris, etc. what's wrong with it on a Mini Cooper?

For me personally I'm not a fan of the giant wheel look, but it's your ride and if'n you think it's the bees knees then that's all that matters.

The look is all wrong, way too much rim riding on rubber bands for tires.

You are going to rub like crazy turning the wheel inside wheel well and the outside trim and fenders.

Also you don't have an inch in the rear for rims that big.

They are going to first rub the plastic trim, no big deal but then you get to the rear quarter seam and that will cut your tire off the rim.

If you try and move them in you are going to rub and destroy your shocks / springs.

Oh and all this is without hitting any bumps. ^^^^^

To me the 19's are too big, 18's maybe but not 19's. This is a hard crowd if its not functional most here wont like it. Heck some don't like my lights and they get used on the back roads.

Ok first are you trying to sell me that a Mini Cooper doesn't have 2 inches to spare in it's regular form? I have 215-35-18's on a 8" rim on my gen 1 Cooper S & it's the exact same size as stock except for the width & even before adding 1/2 inch spacers the wheels didn't rub. It didn't mess up my suspension & since I wasn't using run flats, the ride wasn't that different. So now you want me to believe adding a half of an inch to the rim's width & 1 inch to the rim's diameter & all of a sudden all hell is going to break loose? Really? Oh in case you're wondering I'm putting adjustable coil overs on too. Trust me I've already measured everything. If I had to use 2" adopters then it would've been trouble but I found a company with some that's only .7 of an inch thick. When I'm done with everything I'll post pics.

It's not only about the size fitting (!), it's about aesthetics. They just look wrong on a MINI. 19's may look great on another car, but not on a MINI.
