Best Catback exhaust for r56 under $900

Hey guys, I am looking for a good catback exhaust for a 2011 mini cooper s r56 that both has a good sound and adds decent horsepower under $900. I thought about Milltek because of the HP gains but I heard they were bogus

A lot of people like like the Milltek

Some, including me have the Stratmosphere and really like it.

I was planing on getting the Milltek but when I called to order it Chad at Detroit Tuned told me to get the Stratmosphere. I trust him so thats what I got. I have been pleased with it. It sounds great and is not to loud or to quiet.

Well Ok now that I posted that I just saw you said R56. Sorry I was thinking R53. Here is a link to the R56 Milltek. Chad at DT know his minis and they support the community. I would give them a call. By the way DO NOT GET a EBAY $200 exhaust!

Save your money and buy a Milltek, you can thank me in 10+ years when it's on your car that long with no issues at all.

Mine has been.

Milltek, ALL the way. It has been on my MCS since it was new in 2006 and shows no sign of wearing out. Besides, that "burble" as you slow to a stop is to die for.

Because of the R56 exhaust set-up you would need a turbo-back exhaust and a tune for a real gain. Otherwise you are getting a happy noise and no real change to performance. Nothing wrong with that. I did the same to my R56. Just don't get any illusions of 5-10 hp gains.

I'm out oif the exhaust game so I don't know wgo is good anymore. Seems like Militek is the answer.

I just went to my local exhaust shop and had'em cut off the OE muffler and swap for a Flowmaster and a cool rectangular tip that fit the shape of the rear bumper. Sounded nice with no drone. It was $300 parts and labor.

If you look at my old garage you can see, what I did for the exhaust:https://www.motoringalliance.com/for...r-s-hatch.html

Like Redbeard said, with R56 there is little to no gain in power with an exhaust. That is unless you also have a tune. Gains can be realized with extra flow from a larger exhaust if tuned for it. Personally I'd just use that money and put it towards suspension, brakes, and or wheels and tires. The true enjoyment comes from using these cars. Do that, go to autocross, or if you want to spend more money for more time, go to a local track day.
