Hi all. I have a 2003 base model Cooper. It has the stock radio with no auxiliary input. I know that there are many harnesses to add Aux IN to the radio, but I've heard that there are some radios that will not work. Even if the harness fits, there's no Aux input. My radio cycles through FM/AM and cd. There is no aux option. Does the harness need plugged in before the "AUX" option is added to the cycle?

Based on build date, the early 02 builds will not have an aux function.

The radio won't show "aux" unless there is a jack installed it will only cycle through the available options until you install the harness.

Check your drivers door jam for the build date.

    Aux Jack

I picked one up off of eBay for $6.xx shipped from China. Felt around behind the radio and found the port, plugged it in, turned the radio to Aux and had George Strait piping from my iPhone through my speaker in less than five minutes... Thanks for the help!

Something must have gone terribly wrong. Why would the Aux port play such bad music? Thats what happens when you buy parts from China.:D

    Ok here you go!

I of course pulled the whole center apart. If you were really able to get it in there with out taking anything apart I feel like a real dummy. The one odd thing about mine is that if I have whatever device connected to the aux input and charging at the same time, aux will not be an input option.
    Anyone else experience this?
